OTHM (The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality) provides a track of professional qualifications that are designed for Students Members to develop progressively the skills and knowledge that they will need to help them in their careers. Because of the globalisation, the world has become a small place for the tourists. Therefore, the Tourism and Hospitality has become the most attracting area for the young generation. The area of Tourism and Hospitality is very new and it has good prospects in the near future. After the achievement of the qualification from the UK on this area the students will be able to enter in the attracting careers.
The Hospitality Management Department is dedicated to providing lessons on how to manage the hospitality industry effectively. In recent years tourism has become the single largest industry for a number of developing economies, so its effective management is a matter of considerable financial interest. Currently, we Offer Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) courses leading to London South Bank University qualifications. In view of the current demand for skilled and competent people in the hospitality industry it has become important to train and educate people for the industry. The College has concentrated on providing academic and professional courses relating to hospitality management.

| Work Experience |
|
|
Although it is desirable that Certificate students have some experience in the industry no minimum is required. Diploma and Advanced Diploma students are expected to either have work experience in the industry before joining the course, or be working part-time in the industry. Candidates should note that if they intend to study for further professional qualifications in the industry, a certain amount of industrial experience will probably be required. OTHM provides opportunities for work placements to all students.

This programme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study of not less than 450 hours. Private study will be required over and above this figure. Each of the modules has a two and a half hour examination, set and marked by CTH.

|

| POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT |

| What is it? |
|
|
This programme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study not less than 120 credits which equates to 240 hours tuition and 960 hours of directed learning. Candidates have an opportunity to gain credit towards either an MA, or an MSc degree. They also have an opportunity to develop higher level academic skills that can be applied in a vocational context.

Marketing Strategies – Enable students to develop their understanding of marketing strategies and public relations tactics in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Module 2: Management and Leadership
Across Cultures – Develop a critical understanding of the range of issues associated with management and leadership across cultures.
Module 3: Hospitality and Tourism
Strategic Planning – Enable students to develop skills in strategic analysis and strategic planning. The module also considers risk evaluation and management, as well as business ethics.

| Masters Pathway |
|
|
Students who complete the CTH Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management can complete a 60 credit dissertation with the University of Sunderland leading to the award of the University of Sunderland MSc. degree in Tourism and Hospitality.
|
|
| Admission requirements |
|
- Minimum of degree graded "third" or above. Equivalence for non-UK degrees should be evaluated through NARIC.
- Minimum of three years of work experience at supervisory or managerial level for non-graduates from the hospitality and tourism industries.
- At least IELTS 6.0 or other evidence of competence in English at this level.
